A new Haggadah with writings by returnees and the families of hostages
With Purim in the read view mirror, Passover is obviously just around the bend. We're sharing news of a new Haggadah, available in both English and Hebrew.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I haven’t yet seen the Haggadah we’re posting about. By the time I get the copies I’ve ordered though (I’ve ordered in English and Hebrew, because we have a melange of people at our Seder table), it will be too late for those who might wish to get them in time to order, so we’re sharing the links even though I’ve not yet read through it.
Here’s the language from the Hostage Family Forum web site, where they can be ordered.
This year, we have created The Haggadah of Freedom – a traditional Passover Haggadah in Hebrew and English, side by side, accompanied by texts, interpretations, and personal stories from returnees and the families of the hostages.
In this Haggadah, you will find:
The story of the "Seder" that Liri Albag and Agam Berger held while in captivity.
The letter Hadar Goldin wrote to his fiancée on the eve of Passover, before his abduction.
The music that saved Sagui Dekel Chen.
Moses’ profound realization and its relevance today, as reflected by Ruby Chen, father of Itay.
The new joy of Tal Tal Kupershtein, father of Bar.
The story of Avraham Mengistu’s release after ten years in captivity.
and many more...
The Haggadah of Freedom amplifies the voices of those who have returned to Israel, alongside the families of those still held Hostage in Gaza. It bridges the ancient story of the Exodus with today’s painful reality, reminding us that the struggle for their freedom continues.
The recent releases have given us strength and proven that our loved ones will return home.
Until then, as we wait for the day we can all sit together at the Seder table, we invite you to read The Haggadah of Freedom this Passover and stand with us in the fight for their release.
All proceeds are donations to the Hostage Families Forum, and are tax-deductible (501c3).
The page for more information and ordering is here.
[Obviously, I’m just passing this information on. I have nothing to do with the operation, am not responsible for shipping, billing or anything of the sort. It’s simply a cause I deeply believe in and what seems to be a wonderful way to enrich our Pesach Seder conversation.]

The last anecdote about the return of soldiers into Israeli society... I couldn't help but recall Joseph Cambell's stories about the hero's return at the end of the journey. A re-entry process.
Thanks for a very centering discussion.💙
