Just back from my first visit since 10/7 - much was the same as always, except for the undercurrent of Gaza and the hostages. Got a small feeling for what it has been like, as we had 2 Houthi missile attacks, visited hostage square in TA, and walked through the old city of Jerusalem, which was mostly empty except for shop owners and everyone heading toward the Kotel for slihot. All of that didn't make the impression on me that this edition of Israel from the Inside did - if you can't travel to Israel (and there are very very few reasons why one can't) watch and read this newsletter, and you will understand how the past 2 years have changed Israel. I have to think the change has been for the better and the many lessons learned in the last 2 years will make Israel stronger, more resilient, safer, and the only clear home for the Jewish people!
Thank you so much for this- so well said. I was hoping to visit for the past 3 years. That was my 80th birthday! Still hope to do so at least for my 85th. Go as often as you can when you can. I have been almost 20 times. But I was younger then! Led multiple missions and MOL multiple times. Am Yisrael Chai!
I was reminded of a concert I went to in the late 70s/early 80s (Sultan's Pool ?) of the 1812 overture, complete with cannon fire. With the 1st cannon fire, there was a split second twitter across the audience, till all realized that it was part of the performance -- couldn't do that today...
Thank you for sharing such a detailed and compassionate description with us
I can't put it better. Very well said.
