There’s an old quip in Israeli circles that years ago, a leading candidate for Prime Minister in an upcoming vote was asked by a TV journalist, “What do you think your chances really are in the elections?” As the story (which may be apocryphal) goes, the candidate said to the journalist, “My chances? In a word, ‘good.’ In two words, ‘Not good.’”
