Three posts today, tomorrow and Friday will address these three themes. Today, peace. Tomorrow, the possibly renewing war, and Friday, causes for hope.

Yehuda Amichai, one of Israel’s most beloved poets, wrote a poem called “Remember and Remind,” a title which words better in Hebrew, Zichru ve-hazkiru.

We begin today with that poem, and my basic translation of it:

וְאָתָּם זוֹכְרִים רַק פָּנִים
אַל תִּשְׁכְּחוּ אֶת הַיָּדַיִם הַמּוּשָׁטוֹת
וְאֶת הָרַגְלַיִם הָרָצוֹת בְּקָלוֹת וְאֶת הַמִּלִּים .
