Rabbi Gordis, you have done it again. This (both segments) is really wonderful to listen to. Almost the best parts are the ones which have no answers, but continue to engage us in discussion and thought. I am encouraged that many of the things that you don't know are also things that I don't know (in spite of having thought a great deal about them).
With regard to the palestinians and their future, I have long held an opinion about what will make them change their outlook. For many years I did not hear anyone of substantial stature express the idea that I held. Finally, Elon Musk (clearly great intellectual power and great stature, even if you don't agree with him) said what I have long thought. He said that the only way to make a change is to change the way they are educated, from the first grade on. So long as UNWRA was in charge of their education, that was not possible. With all the terrible revelations about UNRWA, in the last 15 months, I think there is now a possibility for that to happen. May it be so.
I also wanted to comment on your observations about your and your families place in the Jewish spiritual world. If you are an oddball, then I would like you to count me in the same camp. I am a life member of a conservative shul that I no longer attend. Sadly, I think that then conservative movement has lost its way in a misguided attempt to met the needs of those it saw as its constituency.
I agree with Alec. This segment was fabulous! I wonder, Daniel, if you would consider hosting a “subscriber town hall” where we could ask you our own questions. As an example, what newspaper do you read for events in US & Israel. After listening to this segment, I am once again livid with the NYT and would consider cancelling my subscription, but to which publication?
It’s hard being in the US when your heart is in Israel… I’ve never seen you comment the few times I’ve posted. If there is a better way to message Daniel that anyone knows of, please pass it along!

Hard questions need to be asked not only by Israel, but by all. Very interesting and provacative interview.
