This coming Sunday and Monday will be Shavuot outside of Israel, so we will not be sending out our regular Monday column. The weekly podcast will be posted a couple of days later on the subject of how Israel handles the issue of abortion (given all the attention now being paid to Roe v. Wade).

In the meantime, a few photographs from “Nostalgia Online,” an Israeli website that curates such images. These are the pictures of the celebration of harvest (and new children!), photos of an era in which a tractor (see last image) was virtually sacred because of the rebirth, harvest and self-sufficiency it made possible.

Israel’s changed a lot since then, but the passion remains. That’s what we regularly explore in Israel from the Inside, and what we’ll continue to discuss after Shavuot.

To those observing, wishes for a meaningful holiday.
