Daniel, I am so very glad for this interview. I want to address one issue that you discussed: that of Israel and Zionism as it relates to American Jews. Every point discussed is true. But even more critical and concerning is how the history of Zionism and particularly of Herzl has been taught. I was sent by a former colleague at the World Bank a total distortion filled with lies, hate, hypocrisy and misinformation about Herzl and how Israel was founded. It made the foundational principles of Israel as genocidal and hateful. How can people, especially younger generations, respond to such misinformation???
Speaking of poetry, have you read Hanna Yerushalmi’s amazing poetry? She’s been posting her beautiful poems on Facebook since October and has had a book published. The money from the sales of her book is being donated to Nir Oz, the home kibbutz of hostage Eden Yerushalmi.
