For many years, even before the state of Israel was declared, the position of the palestinians (and the greater Arab world as well) was pronounced, loudly and clearly, but for some reason the players in the peace camp, from Ben-Gurion to Biden have either not heard it or refused to accept it. It has always been described as "just to appease the street". Thank you for explaining that it has always been real, and not "just for the street". It's almost as though the world wound not cede to the palestinian people any agency.

Fascinating for an outsider to hear. Not enough distinction is made between the Israeli Palestinian conflict which is tractable as Dr Mor says, and the wider Israeli Arab conflict. And the way the Palestinian cause has been manipulated to serve the interests of wider players in the region. Although Iran wasn't mentioned in relation to the latest conflagration it is playing a similar role to that played by other regional powers in the past.

A factor that wasn't dwelt on was the baleful influence of Islamism on the Palestinian cause. Nonetheless the common theme even among secular Palestinian nationalists has not been national liberation but the elimination of the Jewish state. This pathological condition facilitated the rise of apocalyptic jihadism in the form of Hamas.
