Thank you, Daniel for making this information accessible. And thank you for the courage to underscore the colossal failure of the state to fulfill it's essential function: "...they are hostages because their country failed them. Providing basic security is the first and foremost obligation that any state has to its citizens, and Israel completely failed these people." Those responsible for this catastrophe must be held accountable, and the sooner the better, so that Israel can elect leadership possessing the wisdom and courage to face the difficult decisions ahead.

The Times of Israel also profiles “those we have lost” and “those still missing “. I try to leave a note out n a few of the profiles every day, especially those with no comments.

You are wrong about Haredim not having kids in the army. They do. Not the same percentage of their population as the other sectors. BTW, did you also look at religious non-Haredi news outlets? Their kids are about half of those serving.

Let's look at the percentage of those killed in battle. That pretty much tells the story that matters.

How 'bout we ask some of the hundred or so newest Haredi recruits that enough of them take a bullet so their service will count!

There is no reason to trade tit for tat. It so happens that if you have a complaint about the Haredim not serving, take it up with David Ben-Gurion. At the moment, the saddest part of all is those who have been lost and those still in captivity.
