When Trump was elected, respected 'intelligentsia' forecasted the immediate catastrophic collapse of the U.S. and we experienced massive claims of self-imposed deportation by the Hollywood elite. Neither happened.

Instead, despite the concoction of a baseless conspiracy by Democrats, we had one of the best economic periods in the history of the country (till Covid) and I don't know one person who moved to Canada, or any other foreign land, so you'll excuse me if I say "the jury's out."

How about a dissenting a opinion? Or at least one from someone who isn't forecasting Armageddon in the next 2 years.

From a quick scan of Wikipedia, the two salient differences between the Supreme Court in IL vs. the USA is that in Israel:

(1) Sitting SC justices have a say in nominating their successors (they represent 3 of the 7 votes needed to nominate a new justice); and

(2) The Supreme Court can override Knesset legislation.

This would seem to give the Israeli Supreme Court more power than the Knesset, going against the USA's approach of checks and balances between the executive, legislative, and judicial branches.

Surely there is a common sense reform to resolve this?

Perhaps the real problem is IL importing the anglo world's culture wars. Internal division between left and right will weaken IL before her enemies.

That is incredibly scary. I'm haunted by the Hebrew phrase for civil war: "milchemet achim", a war of brothers. I'm praying that Israel will avoid this.
