I understand the difficult position Israel is in vis a vis Syria, etc. but I think it's disingenous for MK Alon to say he's worried about the Russian Jews. The doors between Russia & Israel have been open for a long time now -- time enough for those wanting aliyah to achieve it. And some have left very recently. So 'worrying about Russian Jews' is a lame argument.

Great speaker. Frustrating when some of your guests say "um" every other word so it was refreshing to hear him speak clearly. Pretty cool you had a MK on as well.

And that was funny about Young Judea, I was in it around 1997/98 and it was one of the most awkward things I was part of.

The interview with the journalist who rescued the Afghani girls was unreal, seriously. I've unsubscribed from all of my other substacks, and not because those writers weren't talented, but because they were hackneyed. I really enjoy the variety and depth of this substack!

By the way, a shul in Phoenix, Arizona held a showing of a movie about Menachem Begin at which your excellent bio of him was distributed. Even more intriguiging? You'd signed a copy of that book for me years ago (believe it was when you spoke at the Atlanta JCC), which I lent to my sister who "lent" it to her rabbi. The rabbi moved and the book got thrown into a box for which it has likely been for the last few years. Apparently someone else also gave the rabbi the same book, signed by you (to them)….the rabbi gave that book to my brother in law (mistakenly thinking it was the copy my sister had given him).
