Excellent recap. But quoting the corrupt and despicable Jared Kushner, a liar, a cheat and a tool of MBS was probably unnecessary to make the point.

"Don't forget" and "remember" are seared into our personas. Whether the many pogroms throught our history to more recent evens - Netanya passover attack during he Intifada or Yom Kippur 1973 and many others (too many). Oct. 7th is different than those in many ways (our security apparatus failed its citizens, hostages and more...) its effects will linger - hopefully with a result of making us stronger and seeing more clearly the challenges we face. The elimination of our many enemies leaders is positive and necessary but we realize it does not eliminate the threat and transform it into peace. We are doing the work that the world should have done and should do. (Perhaps that is part of our people's role. To clearly identify evil even though most do not listen.)

I tremble at the coming Oct 7th - to ensure we do it justice and at the same time to strengthn our resolve. Perhaps having Rosh Hashanah before then is a message/opportunity to know that we can start anew. To increase unity and love among our people and with our creator. To rescue the remaining hostages by force or negotiation (both are 'rescues") , to allow those families to start anew as well. May this bring a Shannah Tova U'mtukah.

Please, never use the Kushner name again. Your posts are too nuanced, too useful, too helpful and insightful to rely upon Kushner . He is as M. Rabin describes him but even more horrific in that w his relationship to Trump he is a tool for possible loss of our ( US) democracy. He is, as my father would have said, a shonda.

Beautiful post.

TDS is unbecoming of the above commentators. Imagine the ingratitude of facilitating the Abraham accords.

For the perspective on what the ‘removal from the group ‘ of Nasrallah meant to Israelis, I thank you. In America he was a replaceable question mark. Now I can feel the hope that his removal means.

And there are also those of us who remember where we were when we heard that Kennedy was shot...

I'm fascinated by former IAF head Dan Halutz being on a TV panel with Amit Segal. Hasn't Halutz been a leading, vocal opponent of the judicial overhaul and in the forefront of demonstrations to bring the hostages home? I thought I read that he was actually forcibly dragged away by the cops at a recent demonstration and suffered a hand injury in the process.
